Colorful UI Settings

Making your EVE Online client your own is one thing that the game has always given it's player. Unlike many other MMOs, you're given the ability to rearrange your UI exactly how you want it, but what about all those pretty colorful interfaces you might see from other players? Its All About the Maps

One of the most valuable tools in EVE is the in-game Star Map. With this a player can find out lots of information about their surroundings, and their current route. Many players are not accustom to using this to their advantage, and some don't even know of it's ability. Being able to see what is exactly going on using the damage notifications can be helpful. Before Retribution hordes of text would scroll past, and your closest chance of being able to see it was using the Logs window. Using Local Chat

Many EVE players will tell you that the local chat window is one of the most important things to have on your screen. The reason being is in various circumstances you want to know what is going on in your system, especially if you're in a hostile environment; where it could be low to null security space, or even in high security space during a war. The Local chat window is an invaluable tool for making sure you know the situation of your present location with little effort.

Overview Settings Explained

One of the most confusing aspects of EVE Online for new players has been the setup of the overview. When I first started customizing the overview, it was at least a day's worth of time piecing together various articles to get all of the information needed to learn every bit of this part of the UI. With that said, I'm going to cover all that I can about the overview settings. From importing and exporting, setting up filters, and as far as colorizing your brackets.

The Overview and Velocities

One of the things that is confusing to a new player is the use of the Overview. I would guess the reason being that there is nothing comparable to it in any other game. While it may be a bit different, it is in fact your most valuable tool in the game. In this article I will discuss the overview, the velocity columns, and the various ways to use it throughout the universe.

More Hotkeys

There are a few more hotkeys that are quite useful for various situations, but mainly for PvP. Such hotkeys include module keys, overheating keys, drone keys, and more. In this article, I'll cover these keys allowing any pilot to attack or defend much faster.

Hotkey Heaven

Little do people realize that EVE can be played quite easily with a few keyboard shortcuts. Many players will move their UI all around to make it to where clicking from one thing to another is a short distance, but I've found that hot keys are the best and most effective way to get the most out of the game. Unlike other games, EVE actually has great key binds already made by default.
